Why does this suck so so so so bad?
Demolition String Band covering Madonna's "Like a Prayer."
And how much do I hate when bluegrass bands call themselves string bands?
And another thing I hate: discovering a new string band that sounds good on instrumentals, but sing in that saccharin cutesy voice that has somehow become attached to "old timey" music. I'll take my old-timey singing raw and with some grit, thank-you. If it sounds "cute" and "pretty," you aren't doing it right.
Okay, I'm done.

All that harfed out, faux funny cover makes me want is to hear the original song! I'm with you all the way.
yeah, that sucks. they suck. although i assume you didn't mean to imply there were bluegrass.
i think there's something about novelty that doesn't work when they're trying to be cute about it. really good covers of unlikely songs I think work best when the cover band actually loves the song. That's the impression I get from the likes of The Meat Purveyors, or when Hot 8 Brass Band or Ebony Hillbillies do "Sexual Healing," or the CCDs do "Hit Em Up Style" someone like that.
Yuck. It's frustrating, too, because (at least some of) the chord changes should make for a really kick-ass bluegrass tune. WE could do it way better.
